Colour Run Promo 2

Mother Teresa Early Childhood Education Centre is bringing its colour run back to Lloydminster on June 13, and organizers want residents to know one thing: nobody needs a kid enrolled to show up.

The sixth annual event is open to the entire community, not only families connected to the school, said Sarah Rorquist, the school’s classroom complexity teacher.

“This is a community event. It is open to everybody, not just Mother Teresa,” Rorquist said. “We welcome all of our past students to come, but also bring your family and friends, too.”

Registration opens at 12:30 p.m., with the run starting at 1 p.m. Entry costs $5 per person or $15 per family, with no limit on family size.

The three-kilometer route loops the school field three times. Colour stations are set up throughout, and a water station goes up when weather cooperates. Last year’s event drew close to 200 participants.

Proceeds go toward upkeep of the school’s outdoor space and supplies for students.

This year’s sponsors include Cenovus Cares, GHL Consulting, Mike’s Oilfield Services, and a Grade 2 family. Sobeys and the Lloydminster and District Co-op are covering juice and cookies for participants after the finish.

Pre-registration is available through Mother Teresa Early Childhood Education Centre’s Facebook page.

“It just brings everybody together,” Rorquist said. “It’s affordable, so it includes everyone.”
