Lloydminster RCMP Assault McDonalds 4

A 24-year-old woman is facing an assault charge after a heavy police response drew attention to the McDonald’s restaurant on 50th Avenue Sunday night.

Lloydminster RCMP confirmed the incident did not necessarily occur at the restaurant. Officers located the adult male victim there after responding to the call.

EMS treated the man at the scene. He was cleared with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect and victim are known to one another, according to RCMP.

Staff Sgt. Bruce MacLean, Lloydminster RCMP operations NCO, confirmed the woman has been charged with assault with a weapon. He said her name is being withheld to protect the victim’s privacy.

Multiple tips reached the BorderPulse newsroom around 10 p.m. Sunday after witnesses reported seeing several police vehicles at the location in the 1800 block of 50th Avenue.

A person of interest is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
