Water service has been restored to most of Lloydminster’s east end following Friday’s main break on 41 Street – but residents aren’t in the clear yet.
The City of Lloydminster has issued a notice on their website of a Drinking Water Advisory at 9:18 a.m. for all homes and businesses in the affected area. The advisory remains in effect until further notice.
The Cenovus Energy Hub is the exception. It will remain closed until further notice, even as service returns to surrounding areas.
Under the advisory, any water intended for consumption must be boiled first. That includes water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice.

To boil water safely, bring it to a rolling boil and maintain it for at least one minute. Allow the water to cool before use.
The city is also advising residents to avoid swallowing water while bathing or showering, and to sponge bathe infants and young children. Anyone with severe cuts or open rashes should consult a physician before any contact with the water.
Tap water remains safe for laundry. Residents who prefer not to boil can use bottled water as an alternative.
The city will notify residents when the advisory has been lifted and water is confirmed safe to consume without boiling.
