May 30 collision

A driver lost consciousness at the wheel and triggered a collision at one of Lloydminster’s busiest intersections Saturday evening, Lloydminster RCMP say.

Police responded to the crash at 40 Avenue and 44 Street at 7:41 p.m. on May 30.

The operator of a sport utility vehicle fell asleep, struck the median, and then collided with a pickup truck stopped at the intersection.

Lloydminster Fire Rescue and paramedics also attended the scene.

The driver was issued a ticket for driving without reasonable consideration for others, which carries a $580 fine and four demerit points for a first offence under Saskatchewan’s Safe Driver Recognition program.

No injuries were reported.
