A serious collision shut down a busy Lloydminster intersection this morning, drawing a large emergency response.

Tips began coming into the newsroom around 10:20 a.m. April 13, reporting a crash at the intersection of 44 Street and 50 Avenue.

By the time The Border Pulse arrived, 44 Street was closed in both directions, with westbound traffic stopped at 52 Avenue and eastbound traffic blocked just west of the collision.

Multiple emergency services were on scene.

Lloydminster Fire Rescue worked to extricate at least one individual from an overturned vehicle, while three paramedic units, along with several RCMP and community peace officer units, responded.

At least two people were taken from the scene by ambulance. One ambulance was observed leaving with emergency lights activated en route to hospital.

The roadway remains closed in the area as emergency crews continue to work.
