About the Owner: Dan gray

Dan Gray is a journalist, first responder, and founder of The Border Pulse — Lloydminster’s fastest-growing independent news source.

Born from a newsroom layoff and rebuilt with urgency, determination and a source list a mile long, Dan launched The Border Pulse in November 2025 with one goal: bring real-time reporting, accountability journalism and community storytelling back to the region, without corporate filters or political polish. Within the first 22 days, the site surpassed 90,000 pageviews — a signal that Lloydminster still values local news, and someone willing to chase it.

Dan’s reporting focuses on what actually impacts people:
• municipal budgets and tax decisions
• RCMP investigations and court outcomes
• fire, collision and emergency response coverage
• community features, events and people-driven stories

As a volunteer firefighter, Dan works both with first responders and among them, a closeness that shapes his breaking news reporting with caution, empathy and lived experience. He understands the scene, respects the work, and knows where the line sits between public interest and human dignity.

His writing style reflects the Border Pulse philosophy:
people first, politics neutral, accuracy over speed and humanity above all.

Dan believes journalism should belong to the community it serves. That means showing up, asking questions others won’t, getting to the breaking news, and sometimes telling uncomfortable truths. It also means documenting the everyday: the wins, the losses, the fundraisers, the kids who score goals, and the stories that don’t make headlines but still matter.

Today, Dan is building The Border Pulse into more than a publication, into a platform that informs, questions, remembers and connects. A newsroom with boots on the ground. A voice that listens. A place where the truth doesn’t need permission to be printed.

He’s not here to replace the old way.
He’s here because the community deserves a new one.
