Lloydminster city council meets today at 1:30 p.m. with a packed agenda.

Council will consider committing more than $1 million in retroactive pay to Lloydminster Fire Rescue members under a new collective agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 5182.

A new Animal Control Bylaw is up for second and third reading, meaning it could pass into law today. It sets fresh rules for pet owners, including a framework for dogs deemed dangerous.

Residents could also see a break on their utility bills, with administration recommending a monthly recycling rebate starting in October tied to a provincial program shift.

Other items include an update on downtown social disruption programs, a regional emergency mutual aid agreement, a multimillion dollar drainage contract award and appointments to the Social Policy Framework Leadership Team.

We will have coverage of key decisions once the meeting wraps.
