Lloydminster Fire Rescue evacuated residents from a Glenwood Village apartment building Monday afternoon following a chemical incident.
Crews responded twice to building F, according to residents. The first call came earlier in the afternoon. Firefighters returned at approximately 5:15 p.m.
The second response led to the evacuation.
Lloydminster Assistant Fire Chief Chad Penner confirmed the department’s presence.
“We attended the building in response to a chemical incident,” said Penner.
“The earlier call was also related.”
Penner said EMS were on scene as a precaution. Residents will be out of the building for 24 hours.
One resident, sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot, said Avenue Living is putting displaced tenants up in a hotel for the night and providing meals.
No further details about the chemical incident have been released.
