Maidstone senior dies in Highway 16 crash near Marshall

A 78-year-old woman from Maidstone died Monday after a two-vehicle collision west of Marshall, Sask.

Maidstone RCMP received the report around 12 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 16 and Range Road 3273.

An SUV and a car collided. EMS declared the SUV’s driver dead at the scene. She was the vehicle’s sole occupant. Her family has been notified.

The car’s driver, also the sole occupant, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

While officers responded to the crash and directed traffic in the area, a second collision happened on Highway 16.

A truck and a motorcycle collided. EMS assessed everyone involved at the scene. None reported serious injuries.

Police issued the truck’s driver a ticket for following too closely.

Highway 16 was temporarily closed and has since reopened.

Maidstone RCMP thanked everyone who assisted at the scene. The detachment continues to investigate with help from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.

As of Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., Saskatchewan RCMP reported 55 fatal collisions and 68 fatalities on roadways it polices in 2026.
