A 61-year-old Camrose resident is facing a roadside licence suspension after a two-vehicle collision in Lloydminster.
According to RCMP the collision happened around 7:45 a.m. Thursday at 18 Street and 50 Avenue.
RCMP said a white pickup truck was travelling north on 50 Avenue when it entered the intersection against a red light and collided with another white pick-up truck.
Lloydminster RCMP, fire rescue crews and city peace officers responded to the scene. Although the vehicles had been moved to the parking lot on the southwest side of the intersection, there was significant debris in the intersection.
Investigators later raised concerns that the driver travelling northbound may have been impaired at the time of the crash.
That driver was arrested at the scene and released without being charged at the time. They did receive a roadside suspension.
RCMP have not released the driver’s name. Under RCMP policy and Canada’s Privacy Act, that information stays confidential until the person makes a first court appearance.
No court date has been set and the investigation continues into the incident.
