A three-vehicle collision closed part of 44 Street and 40 Avenue earlier today (Aug. 31), sending emergency crews to the scene.

The call came in shortly after 11:30 a.m., said Cpl. Mathew Howell, a K Division public information officer with RCMP.

A 2005 white pickup truck was headed eastbound on 44 Street when it ran a red light at the intersection and struck a black Ford F-150, Howell said.

The F-150 then collided with a second GMC Sierra pickup truck, Howell said.

No one suffered serious injuries in the crash.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene.

RCMP, Lloydminster Community Peace Officers, Lloydminster Fire Rescue and EMS crews from Medavie responded.

The 49-year-old Lloydminster man driving the white pickup faces a charge of disobeying a red light, Howell said.

BorderPulse will update this story as more information becomes available.
