Eight athletes from the Lloydminster Border Blades Speed Skating Club have qualified to represent Zone 7 at the 2026 Alberta Winter Games, set for Feb. 13–16 in Alberta’s Lakeland Region.

The skaters earned their spots through strong performances during the Alberta Winter Games qualification process, capping months of training and competition.

Those representing Lloydminster and Zone 7 include:

  • Grace Myers
  • Kenley Cockrum
  • Paxton Turcotte
  • Haley Clarke
  • Gage Myers-Christiansen
  • Ben Swiderski
  • Torren Mohrbutter
  • Grady Myers-Christiansen

Qualifying for the Alberta Winter Games is a major milestone for young athletes. The Games bring together top competitors from across the province and offer a high-level, multi-sport environment that mirrors larger provincial and national competitions.

The Border Blades club said it is proud of the athletes’ commitment, discipline, and teamwork throughout the season. Coaches and families have also played a key role, supporting early mornings, long practices, and travel for competitions.

As preparations continue, the community is encouraged to follow and support the skaters as they get ready to compete on the provincial stage.
