Loon Lake RCMP are asking the public to help locate an Edmonton man who fled from officers and has not been found.
Joshua Clarke, 31, is wanted on an arrest warrant after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop on Island Lake First Nation on May 21.
Officers were on patrol around 6:15 p.m. following a report of an erratic driver when they spotted an SUV with two occupants. Police believed one of the occupants may be connected to a separate ongoing investigation. When officers activated their emergency lights and initiated a stop, the SUV accelerated and fled.
To slow the vehicle, RCMP deployed a tire deflation device on Highway 21. The SUV drove over it but kept going before eventually stopping on its own.
The driver got out and ran into a nearby wooded area. The passenger stayed in the vehicle and was arrested, but was later released without charge.
Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services joined the search. A police dog tracked the driver for approximately 11 kilometres through the bush. Pierceland RCMP also responded and conducted aerial searches using a remotely piloted aircraft. Clarke was not found.
Clarke faces four charges:
- flight from peace officer, s. 320.17, Criminal Code
- dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, s. 320.13(1), Criminal Code
- resist/obstruct peace officer, s. 129(a), Criminal Code
- fail to comply with release order condition, s. 145(5)(a), Criminal Code
Clarke is described as 6’0″, 185 lbs, with green eyes and brown hair. He has multiple face tattoos, including teardrops under both eyes and a tattoo on his forehead. A photo has been released by police.
Clarke is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
