A multi-jurisdiction pursuit that began in Cold Lake and crossed into Saskatchewan ended with help from Loon Lake RCMP, resulting in three arrests and multiple charges.

On Jan. 27, 2026, Cold Lake RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit was conducting targeted investigations into several recent vehicle thefts in the area when officers located a stolen vehicle at a residence in the 4400 block of 50 Avenue.

When officers attempted to arrest the occupants, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, causing damage to a police vehicle, said officials in a release.

With assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services and the Alberta RCMP Real Time Operations Center, officers pursued the vehicle as it fled Cold Lake and entered the MD of Bonnyville. The pursuit continued into Saskatchewan, where Pierceland RCMP and Loon Lake RCMP assisted.

A tire deflation device was successfully deployed, disabling the vehicle and allowing officers to arrest all three occupants.

Charges laid

As a result of the investigation, Nathan Waskewitch, 39, of no fixed address, is charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and driving while unauthorized.

Keely Saskatchewan, 25, of Frog Lake, Alta., is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. She was also arrested on multiple outstanding warrants from several RCMP jurisdictions, including charges of aggravated assault, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited, theft of a motor vehicle, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Traylene Whitstone, 38, of Cold Lake, is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

All three were brought before a justice of the peace. Whitstone was released from custody, while Waskewitch and Saskatchewan were remanded in custody.

They are scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on Feb. 11, 2026.
