Up to 57 bursaries of $5,000 each are available to business owners aged 18 to 35 – including those in the border region

Young Saskatchewan entrepreneurs have until July 17 to apply for a $5,000 business bursary entering its second year.

The Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for the 2026-27 Young Entrepreneur Bursary, with up to 57 awards available this intake. The program is open to entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 who have been operating their business for less than 10 years.

Recipients receive both financial assistance and mentorship connections. The provincial government is providing nearly $1 million over three years to the Chamber to administer the program.

Last year’s intake drew more than 340 applications from young entrepreneurs across 87 Saskatchewan communities.

“The Young Entrepreneur Bursary helped me open my first studio space,” said Montana Lautamus, owner of Montana’s Photo Works.

“Sometimes the greatest investment in a community is not money – it is giving someone the belief that their story, their dreams and their future actually matter.”

Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding and Chamber CEO Prabha Ramaswamy announced the intake opening Wednesday.

Applications close July 17. Full information and the application form are available at saskchamber.com.
