Update: A driver and vehicle have been identified, however, the individual has not been brought into custody.
A collision near the corner of 49 Ave. and 44 St. this morning (Sept. 7) has claimed the life of a male.
RCMP were called to the corner of 44 Street and 49 Avenue around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a person lying in the roadway.
Officers arrived to find a man lying in the road. He was wearing camouflage clothing, a black ball cap and a backpack. He had been struck by a vehicle.
EMS and Lloydminster Fire Rescue responded to the scene. Despite their efforts, the man was declared dead at hospital.
Sgt. Christopher Byford said the vehicle involved has not been identified by mid-morning, however, that has since changed. He said it was believed to be travelling northbound at the time of the collision and will have front end damage.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist arrived from St. Paul to assist in the investigation. The roadway re-opened around 10 a.m.

RCMP are asking anyone with dashcam or doorbell camera footage from the area to come forward, particularly footage from 49 Street south of the intersection.
Investigators also want to hear from anyone who saw a man matching that description walking in the area around the time of the collision.
Anyone with information can contact Lloydminster RCMP or submit a tip to Crime Stoppers.
