A Lloydminster woman says she’s afraid to leave her home alone after a fight outside a local bar left her injured and one man under arrest.
Lloydminster RCMP are investigating the incident, which happened outside The Sticks around 2 a.m. Aug. 15.
Officers responded to two calls at the bar that night, said S/Sgt. Bruce MacLean, operations NCO for Lloydminster RCMP.
The first call involved a group that had left before police arrived. Others involved were allowed to leave with sober drivers, MacLean said.
The second call, shortly after, involved a fight between two men and a woman. Witnesses told police it started over a parking dispute, MacLean said.
One of the two men was arrested. He was released on an undertaking, and no charges have been laid. The investigation is ongoing, MacLean said.
The case is not currently being treated as hate-crime motivated, MacLean said.
The woman, who BorderPulse is not naming at her request, said two people attacked her within minutes of each other. She said the attack happened during Pride Month, though not at a Pride-related event.
She told BorderPulse she believes the fight was because she’s transgender and that she was targeted.
“I’m scared to go anywhere now by myself. Even to go my own place,” she said.
BorderPulse will be continuing to follow this investigation as it proceeds.
A man arrested in this case has not been charged. He is presumed innocent.
