Neighbours are shaken and a resident is upset after a structure fire broke out in a multi-unit building on 57 St. in Lloydminster this afternoon.
“There was smoke billowing from the rear of the apartments,” said a reader who alerted Border Pulse around 3:40 p.m. Lloydminster Fire Rescue had multiple units and crew members on scene and the street closed just west of 50 Ave.
Paramedics arrived on scene and treated at were seen treating at least one individual. However, there is no word on how many may be injured or the extent. The cause is also under investigation.
Resident, Stephen Webster, stated “there has been multiple maintenance issues within the building” ahead of the fire.
He spoke to us from the drivers seat of his cab, he said he was in the unit at the time of the fire and escaped quickly. However, he had to leave his identification and footwear behind.
Another resident who lives in an apartment on the floor below is concerned about water and smoke damage to his unit.
Crews remain on scene at this hour.
