Lloydminster RCMP are investigating a string of vehicle break-ins that targeted Hyundai models across the city, all reported on April 30.
In each incident, a window was smashed to gain entry. Police say the break-ins appear connected and that suspects attempted to steal the vehicles.
Investigators are asking anyone with information – or dash cam or surveillance footage showing a window being broken – to come forward.
How the break-ins happened
In every reported case, a suspect broke a window to get inside the vehicle. RCMP say all targeted vehicles were Hyundai models.
The investigations are ongoing. Police have not released the number of vehicles affected or where in the city the incidents took place.
What police are asking you to do
Lloydminster RCMP say residents with Hyundai vehicles should take steps now to make their vehicles harder to steal.
Police are recommending:
- Use a steering column lock such as The Club
- Always lock your vehicle
- Never leave keys or valuables inside
- Keep items out of sight, or secured in the glove box or trunk
- Install front and rear dash cameras
- Install surveillance cameras where your vehicle is parked
- Consider aftermarket immobilizers or GPS tracking devices
- Park in well-lit areas when possible
- Report suspicious people or activity to police immediately
