Lloydminster RCMP say the community is safe after an early-morning firearms incident that sent one person to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers were called to a home around 5:57 a.m. on Nov. 4 following a report of shots fired. With support from Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services and the General Investigation Section, police arrested a lone suspect less than three hours later.

Investigators say the shooting was targeted, and no additional suspects are being sought.

Police seized a loaded shotgun and extra ammunition during the arrest.

Catlin Heathen, 30, of Lloydminster, faces several firearm and probation-related charges, including discharging a firearm with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with a probation order.

Heathen was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Nov. 10.
