A North Battleford man is facing several charges after Battlefords RCMP seized a significant quantity of drugs during a traffic stop last week.

On June 11, 2026, at approximately 1:50 p.m., officers initiated a stop after observing a vehicle travelling on 15th Avenue without a license plate.

During the investigation, officers determined a male passenger was wanted on warrant for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, escape from lawful custody, and possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.

Following his arrest, a search of the vehicle turned up two grams of psilocybin, 35 grams of methamphetamine, 1.66 kilograms of illicit cannabis, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

James Bruynooghe, 41, of North Battleford, has been charged with possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis, four counts of failing to comply with a release order, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine.

Bruynooghe appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on June 12, 2026.
