At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Feb. 26, Legacy Regional Protective Services firefighters were dispatched to reports of a fire in a structure containing livestock.
Upon arrival at the location, on Lone Rock Road east of Highway 17, they found a shed which was home to a pet pig was burning.
Firefighters quickly learned the pig had “self-rescued” previous to their arrival. Livestock in other buildings on the properties were uninjured.
The blaze destroyed the small building and spread into some nearby organic material.
Crews remained on scene for approximately an hour before the scene was declared safe and turned back over to the owner.
No injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation.
