Two men face multiple drug and firearms charges after RCMP executed a search warrant in Cold Lake on April 9.
A Cold Lake RCMP drug investigation led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, a loaded handgun and a shotgun earlier this month.
Police said officers with the Cold Lake General Investigation Section executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act on April 9 in the area of 16th Street and 7th Avenue.
RCMP said the warrant followed a short-term investigation into suspected drug trafficking in the area.
Several people were found inside the home when officers entered and were arrested for various offences, police said.
During the search, officers seized a loaded handgun, a shotgun, about 128 grams of suspected cocaine and other items consistent with cocaine trafficking.
Two men were charged in connection with the investigation.
Kyle Alen Piche, 27, of Cold Lake, is charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Carrying a concealed firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
- Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
John Gabriel, 26, of Bonnyville and Cold Lake, is charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number
- Careless storage of a firearm
- Failing to comply with the conditions of a release order
Both men were remanded into custody and were scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake on April 15.
The charges have not been proven in court.
