Sask. RCMP lay murder charge after Green Lake death

Meadow Lake Provincial Court is set to hear a second-degree murder charge stemming from a death in Green Lake.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s Homicide Investigation Unit (HIU) has charged a 47-year-old woman in the case.

Meadow Lake/Green Lake RCMP received a report of an injured man in Green Lake around 10:35 p.m. on July 21.

Officers found the man outside a business on McIntosh Avenue. EMS attended and pronounced him dead at the scene.

He has been identified as Michael Lafond, 46, of Green Lake. His family has been notified, and victim services have been made available to them.

Officers arrested a woman on 3rd Avenue in Green Lake in connection with the investigation.

Saskatchewan RCMP’s HIU took over the file. Angela Kusnezoff, 47, of Green Lake, has since been charged with:

  • Second-degree murder, Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code

The charge has not been proven in court. Kusnezoff is presumed innocent unless and until a court finds otherwise.

Kusnezoff is scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on July 23.
