Lloydminster Fire Rescue on scene at Microtel on Sept. 14.
Lloydminster Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire alarm at the Microtel near the Lloydminster Museum and Archives at 7:54 a.m. on Sept. 13.
Pumper 19 and Pumper 21 responded from the city’s west side. Because the property is a commercial facility, both units were dispatched.
BorderPulse observed both pumpers heading eastbound near 57 Ave. and 44 St. at 7:59 a.m.
Crews arrived to find no active fire, but noted a light haze and the smell of burning plastic. An investigation determined a freezer had begun smoking due to an electrical fault.
Crews unplugged the freezer, and stayed on scene to ventilate the building, they left scene at 8:31 a.m.
