Turtleford RCMP have released new details on a serious two-vehicle collision south of Paradise Hill.

Officers were called to the crash around 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 20. Initial reports described a rear-end collision between a pickup truck and another vehicle.

The investigation determined the pickup truck had collided with a grain truck.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital, RCMP said. Two passengers in the pickup were taken to hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. A third passenger was assessed at the scene by EMS.

The driver of the grain truck did not report any injuries to police.

RCMP said the injured driver was taken to hospital via STARS, however the organization provided clarity when contacted.

“I can confirm that STARS was dispatched for a scene call emergency in the Turtleford area yesterday afternoon in response to a motor vehicle collision,” said Blake Robert, government relations and public affairs manager for STARS.

The helicopter did not land at the crash scene. Robert said it flew to the Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford instead, to meet the patient there.

“STARS flew to the Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford to rendezvous with the patient, who was ultimately able to be transported onward by ground ambulance,” Robert said.

The helicopter then returned to its base in Saskatoon without the patient.

The intersection at Township Road 520 and Range Road 3242 was closed for several hours after the crash.

The investigation continues.
