Holy Rosary High School will remain open Tuesday after a small fire broke out in the cafeteria in the early morning hours.
The Lloydminster Catholic School Division confirmed classes will proceed as scheduled. Lloydminster Fire Rescue cleared the building for occupancy.
The school’s sprinkler system activated during the incident and helped contain the fire quickly, according to the division. The fire was detected early, which the school credited with limiting the potential for more extensive damage.
Cafeteria services will not be available Tuesday. Students are asked to bring lunch and snacks. Commercial cooking classes will be held in an alternate classroom, and the graduation potluck will not be affected.
Restoration crews will be working in affected areas throughout the day. Families and students may notice a lingering odour in parts of the building.
A review is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

“Important Notice from Holy Rosary High School
We would like to inform families that following a small, contained fire in the cafeteria, 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.
Please note that cafeteria services will not be available today. Students are encouraged to bring lunch and snacks as needed. Our Commercial Cooking classes will be in an alternate classroom today and the graduation potluck will not be affected.
