A 16-year-old Lloydminster resident has been ticketed for an unsafe lane change following a collision at 62 Avenue and 44 Street Friday morning.
RCMP say the crash, involving a Cadillac XT5 and a transport truck, happened around 8:50 a.m.
BorderPulse was on scene shortly after the crash. The Cadillac had suffered serious damage to the driver’s side and a smashed rear window, and had come to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection.
The transport truck, registered out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was stopped about 150 feet west of the crash site.
Lloydminster RCMP, fire crews and EMS responded. No one appeared to be taken to hospital by EMS at the scene.
Westbound lanes were reduced while crews cleared the intersection. Traffic backed up toward the BVD Truck Stop, formerly the Husky location.
A witness who was stopped at the intersection told BorderPulse they believed the truck had a green light when the collision happened, a version consistent with RCMP’s finding.
“I was in the intersection waiting to turn left when I heard the bang,” the witness said.
The ticket can be contested in court. RCMP have not released further details, citing the driver’s age.
