Two Onion Lake women face drug trafficking charges after RCMP found methamphetamine and trafficking paraphernalia during a traffic stop earlier this month.

Onion Lake RCMP officers were on patrol in the Onion Lake area on Sept. 6 when they pulled over a vehicle.

Officers determined the driver, an adult female, was driving while disqualified and arrested her. They located and seized drug paraphernalia during the arrest.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up approximately 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine and additional trafficking paraphernalia, RCMP said.

The passenger was also arrested.

Following the investigation, Brandy Whitstone and Michelle Wolfe, both 29 and from Onion Lake, are each charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, methamphetamine, under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Whitstone faces an additional charge of driving while prohibited under Section 320.18(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

Both are scheduled to appear in court in Onion Lake on Oct. 21.

The charges have not been tested in court, and both women are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
