Lloydminster city council meets Monday afternoon with two significant spending decisions on the table.
Members will consider authorizing the $72,000 artist agreement with Paul Reimer for a metal tree sculpture and two decorative stone-and-metal benches to be installed near the Bioclean Aquatic Centre in Bud Miller All Seasons Park. The Public Art Advisory Committee selected Reimer’s design from six proposals received last year. Installation is planned for fall 2026 during the aquatic centre’s annual shutdown.
A previous story had noted this was already done, however, was later corrected to show it was only presented as information.
They will also vote on awarding a $1,049,462 contract to McElhanney Ltd. to assess the condition of the city’s raw water pipeline. The cement-lined steel pipeline has been in service since 1984 and runs approximately 36 km from a North Saskatchewan River intake to the water treatment plant. City administration says the pipeline’s remaining service life is not fully known.
A final reading of the updated Fire Rescue Services Bylaw is also on the agenda.
The meeting begins at 1:30 p.m. in Council Chambers.
