A woman charged in connection with a deadly incident near Turtleford has given her account of what she says happened on the farm the night one man was killed.
Madison Jimmy, who faces one count of second-degree murder, spoke from the Saskatoon Correctional Centre in a jailhouse interview first reported by CBC News. In the interview, Jimmy described the hours leading up to the death and offered her version of events, saying the situation escalated quickly and caught her off guard.
“I didn’t think it was going to end up like that,” Jimmy told CBC.
RCMP were called to the rural property on Feb. 22, 2023, where officers found 22-year-old Duncan Meiklejohn dead. Two other people at the farm, 56-year-old Blaine Gill and 54-year-old Roxanne Gill, were also found deceased, though their deaths were ruled non-criminal. Police said Jimmy was known to at least one of the individuals at the property.
According to CBC’s report, Jimmy said she travelled to the farm that night and became involved in a confrontation. She told the network she acted out of fear and panic. None of her statements have been tested in court, and RCMP have not publicly responded to the interview.
Court documents show Jimmy was previously under conditions related to weapons, and officers seized several items during the original investigation.
Jimmy remains in custody and is scheduled for her next court appearance in the coming weeks. The case remains before the courts and all allegations have yet to be proven.
