Battlefords RCMP are searching for one suspect and have laid more than a dozen charges against another following an early-morning armed incident on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation.
RCMP say officers were called to a residence around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 12 after a report of an armed individual.
Police determined that two males assaulted an individual inside the residence. The victim reported non-life-threatening injuries.
RCMP say one of the suspects then threatened occupants with a firearm and discharged it inside the home. No physical injuries were reported as a result of the firearm discharge.
With assistance from Saskatchewan RCMP’s Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Police Dog Services, officers located and arrested one suspect nearby.
As a result of the investigation, 34-year-old Byron Wahobin of Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation has been charged with:
- one count of reckless discharge of a firearm
- two counts of pointing a firearm
- one count of uttering threats
- one count of assault
- one count of resisting or obstructing a peace officer
- four counts of weapons or firearms possession contrary to a court order
- one count of possession of a firearm knowing possession was unauthorized
- one count of possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
- one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
Wahobin appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 13, 2026.

Following continued investigation, RCMP have also charged 35-year-old Lonnie Moosomin with one count of assault. A warrant has been issued for his arrest, and police are asking the public for help locating him.
Moosomin is described as five feet seven inches tall, weighing 132 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.
Police say he should not be approached.
