RCMP have located the driver and vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Lloydminster.
The collision happened near 44 Street and 49 Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Monday, and claimed the life of a man.
“We no longer need to find the vehicle or the driver. No one is travelling in town with front end damage regarding this investigation,” said Cpl. Mathew Howell, “K” Division public information officer.
Howell said investigators are now focused on gathering footage and speaking with witnesses.
He said no charges have been laid, and won’t be until the investigation is complete.
An autopsy on the victim is planned for Tuesday.
“Reviewing footage, autopsy and having our forensics officers process evidence are all parts of the ongoing investigation,” said Howell.
RCMP were originally called to the scene around 6:30 a.m. Monday for reports of a person lying in the roadway.
Officers arrived to find a man lying in the road. He was wearing camouflage clothing, a black ball cap and a backpack. He had been struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
EMS and Lloydminster Fire Rescue responded. Despite their efforts, the man was declared dead at hospital.
RCMP had asked anyone with dashcam or doorbell camera footage from the area to come forward, along with anyone who saw a man matching that description walking nearby around the time of the collision.
