The City of Lloydminster‘s Social Policy Framework Mental Health Working Group is offering free online suicide prevention training to help community members recognize warning signs, respond to someone in crisis and connect people with the right supports.

The 90-minute, self-led digital course is designed to increase awareness and give participants practical skills to support someone who may be experiencing thoughts of suicide or self-harm. The training is delivered through LivingWorks and hosted locally by Family Community Support Services (FCSS).

Participants who complete the course receive a certificate.

Registration will open in batches of 50, with 200 licenses available in total. Once registered, participants have 60 days to complete the course before their access code expires.

Registration details are available at Lloydminster.ca/FCSSEvents or by phone at 780-875-6184. Residents who need help accessing the training can also contact FCSS at that number.

The training covers how to recognize common warning signs that someone may be at risk of suicide, respond to a person in crisis using evidence-based approaches, connect individuals with appropriate supports and resources, and build confidence having conversations about suicide prevention.

The program has financial support from the Government of Saskatchewan.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call 9-1-1 immediately or contact a healthcare professional.
