Kitscoty RCMP charge driver after 181 km/h on Highway 16

Kitscoty RCMP ticketed a driver after catching him going 181 km/h on Highway 16 during a proactive enforcement patrol.

The stop happened on July 14, 2026, RCMP said.

When the officer approached the vehicle, he noted signs the driver was intoxicated, according to the release.

The vehicle was seized. The driver, a 24-year-old man from Vermilion, Alta., was ticketed with:

  • Driving without due care
  • Driving while intoxicated

RCMP did not release the driver’s name. Neither charge falls under the Criminal Code.
