The Lloydminster Catholic School Division is calling for calm and unity after Holy Rosary High School was targeted by vandalism during the evening of June 18.
The division sent a message to parents and guardians Friday morning, saying the messages left on school property contained what it described as explicit, hurtful, and inaccurate statements.
Staff began covering and removing the vandalized messaging before students arrived for morning exams.
“While we respect the right of individuals to express concerns through appropriate channels, vandalism of school property is not constructive in any way and does not reflect the values of respectful dialogue that we strive to uphold within our community,” the division said in its message to families.
The incident occurred as students prepared for final examinations. Grade 8 and 9 students wrote exams Friday morning, with Grade 10, 11, and 12 students set to write in the afternoon.
The division said school operations would continue as normal, with its focus remaining on students completing the school year.
“Holy Rosary High School is more than a building,” the division said. “It is a community of students, staff, and families who care deeply for one another and work every day to create a welcoming, supportive, and faith-filled environment.”
Lloydminster RCMP confirmed Friday morning they are investigating the vandalism, as first reported by BorderPulse. Cpl. Mat Howell said police received reports at 6:47 a.m. and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
The division is encouraging anyone with questions or concerns to contact LCSD directly at info@lcsd.ca.
