Two men face multiple drug trafficking charges after Saskatchewan RCMP seized cash and a large quantity of illegal drugs from a Lloydminster, Alta., hotel room.

Officers with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Lloydminster Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team executed a search warrant on June 11 at a hotel on 50th Avenue. The search was part of an ongoing investigation.

Police seized $40,000 in cash. They also located 243 grams of fentanyl, 233 grams of cocaine, 725 grams of methamphetamine and 6.182 litres of gamma hydroxybutyrate.

Police arrested two men at the scene.

Yuvraj Dhillon, 23, and Sukhman Singh, 20, both of Edmonton, Alta., each face five charges. RCMP charged both with one count each of possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl and gamma hydroxybutyrate under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Both also face one charge of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 under the Criminal Code.

Dhillon and Singh will appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court in Alberta on Aug. 11.

Sgt. Aaron Gervais, with Saskatchewan RCMP’s Lloydminster STRT, said the seizure disrupts the local drug trade.

“This seizure represents a significant disruption to the illicit drug trade in Lloydminster and area,” said Gervais.

“By removing these dangerous substances, and the financial incentives behind them, we are directly investing in community prevention and safety,” he said.

The allegations against Dhillon and Singh have not been tested in court.
