Man released after pointing immitation firearm downtown

Lloydminster RCMP arrested a man Wednesday morning after several people reported a male pointing a firearm at vehicles in the downtown core – including a school bus.

Officials with Lloydminster RCMP confirmed the call came in at approximately 8:37 a.m. on May 6. Officers responded immediately, supported by the Lloydminster RCMP General Investigation Unit and Alberta RCMP Police Dog Services.

The area was briefly shut down while police made the arrest. An imitation firearm was seized.

The man was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear before Lloydminster Provincial Court on July 6, 2026. Charges of assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose are being considered.

Lloydminster RCMP confirmed there is no ongoing danger to the public related to this incident.

The matter remains under investigation.
