Lloydminster RCMP arrested a man Wednesday morning after reports of a male with a possible firearm in the downtown area.
Officials with the RCMP confirmed an adult male was taken into custody following the call. A formal media release is expected due to the significant police response.
Initial reports from multiple individuals to police indicated a male was seen waving a possible firearm in the area of 51 St. and 50 Ave. around 8:40 a.m.
As a precaution, nearby schools voluntarily implemented safety measures during the incident which occurred ahead of the first bell.
RCMP has not yet confirmed the nature of the firearm or the charges the man may face.
