Saskatchewan RCMP seized 10 firearms and methamphetamine during a search of a home on Flying Dust First Nation. One man now faces multiple drug and weapons charges.
Saskatchewan RCMP seized firearms and methamphetamine during a search of a residential property on Flying Dust First Nation as part of an ongoing drug trafficking and firearms investigation.
On Jan. 27, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Meadow Lake Crime Reduction Team, with assistance from the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a search warrant at the residence.
Police located approximately 40 grams of methamphetamine, five long guns, four airguns, a prohibited firearm, ammunition, knives, and drug trafficking paraphernalia during the search.
A male and two females were arrested at the scene. The two females were later released without charge.
As a result of the investigation, 37-year-old Lennex Merasty-Morin of Flying Dust First Nation is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88, Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license/registration, Section 95(1), Criminal Code; and
- two counts, unsafe storage of firearms, Section 86(2), Criminal Code.
Merasty-Morin appeared in Meadow Lake provincial court on Jan. 28.
