The Meridian Source will no longer print a physical edition of its newspaper, a move that will end home delivery and impact workers who distribute the paper across Lloydminster.

The change was confirmed in a video posted to the outlet’s social media by Managing Editor Taylor Weaver.

“You may have heard, but the Source will no longer print a physical copy of the paper,” Weaver said. “It’s true, and we’re very excited to be entering the fully digital world of media, which means the retirement of our paper.”

Weaver said the weekly edition will remain available online, along with flyers, and described the shift as an opportunity to expand reach for advertisers.

“The weekly paper will still be available online right on our homepage at the click of a button,” she said.

She added that from an editorial perspective, “nothing’s going to change,” with staff continuing to cover the community.

While the announcement confirms the end of print, no specific date for the final edition was provided in the video.

However, internal communication shared with delivery personnel indicates the transition could take effect as early as next week. The Border Pulse has not independently confirmed the exact final print date.

The shift to digital also means the end of weekly home delivery, affecting those responsible for distributing the paper throughout the community. The company has not publicly outlined how many delivery workers may be impacted.

The change prompted discussion among residents online, with some raising concerns about access for readers who rely on print.

“The elderly want to read the news. Lots don’t have computers,” one resident wrote.

Others welcomed the move, pointing to convenience and changing habits.

For Lloydminster, the transition marks the end of a long-standing print presence and a significant shift in how local news is delivered.

  1. This is very sad. I know lots of seniors who look forward to reading the newspaper and don’t have any social media.
