A 29-year-old man from Poundmaker Cree Nation is among two people charged after shots were fired at a home in North Battleford on Feb. 8.
Battlefords RCMP say officers received a report around 9:30 p.m. of gunfire directed at a residential building. Police responded immediately and confirmed there were no injuries.
Investigators determined the suspects fled the scene in a grey SUV. Officers later located a vehicle matching the description travelling on Highway 16 and attempted a traffic stop.
Police allege the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed before turning onto a rural road. The SUV eventually came to a sudden stop, where RCMP officers and Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services contained the vehicle.
Mounties say one suspect exited the SUV, threw a firearm onto the ground and then re-entered the vehicle. After multiple commands from officers, both men exited and were arrested without incident.
Officers seized a loaded firearm that had been thrown to the ground. A further search of the vehicle located additional ammunition and bear spray.
