The Alberta RCMP deployed specialized units to assist in the response to a shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C.
In a statement released Tuesday, they confirmed officers from its Emergency Response Teams, Police Dog Services, and Air Services were sent to support BC RCMP in the interest of public safety.
“It is with heavy hearts that we learned of the tragic events that unfolded in Tumbler Ridge,” Alberta RCMP said in the statement.
“We extend our sincerest condolences to the families, friends, and community members who are grieving such an unimaginable loss.”
Alberta RCMP said its officers will continue working alongside BC RCMP as the investigation and community response move forward.
The force also acknowledged the efforts of frontline responders who acted during what it described as a rapidly evolving and extraordinarily difficult situation.
“We recognize all the frontline emergency responders who acted with courage, professionalism, and compassion,” the statement read.
Alberta RCMP said its thoughts remain with the people of Tumbler Ridge and all those impacted.
