Shooting on Lloydminster’s east side sends one to hospital

Lloydminster RCMPare investigating a shooting that occurred late Sunday night on the city’s east side.

Police say officers were called to the area of 47 Avenue near 27 Street at approximately 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 11, 2026, following a report of a shooting. Emergency responders located a 29-year-old man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

The man was transported to hospital and is expected to recover.

According to police, the victim reported being outside when he was approached by a lone suspect who demanded the keys to his vehicle. A struggle followed, during which the victim was shot.

Police say the suspect fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, heavy-set build, and approximately five feet eight inches tall.

The General Investigations Section of the Lloydminster RCMP has taken carriage of the investigation.

“This is a troubling crime,” said Supt. Jerry Nutbrown, detachment commander of the Lloydminster RCMP.

“Residents can be assured that all available resources are being utilized to locate this dangerous suspect.”
