Battlefords RCMP have charged three adults after stopping an attempted break-in at a North Battleford church.
Officers responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a church on Winder Crescent shortly after 11 p.m. on July 14, 2026.
Five suspects were arrested at the scene. The group did not gain entry to the church, and no damage was reported to the building.
During searches, officers seized an imitation firearm and weapons from a man. A woman was found carrying weapons and bear spray.
“Thanks to the quick response and proactive police work of our officers and assistance from the public, we were able to intervene before a break and enter occurred,” said S/Sgt. Bryce Pender with Battlefords RCMP.
“Their vigilance not only prevented further property crime, but also allowed us to hold those responsible accountable,” said Pender. “We remain committed to working closely with our community partners to enhance public safety and help prevent crime.”
Bridget Naytowhow, 26, of Saskatoon, faces:
- one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
- one count of failing to comply with an undertaking condition, Section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code
Darren Stanley, 29, of Wilkie, faces:
- one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1) of the Criminal Code
Dakota Desjarlais, 26, of Saskatoon, faces:
- one count of possession of break-in instruments, Section 351(1) of the Criminal Code
All three are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Sept. 28, 2026.
Two other people arrested at the scene were released without charge.
The charges have not been proven in court. All three are presumed innocent unless convicted.
Battlefords RCMP say the arrests are part of ongoing efforts to address property crime in the region, regardless of if it’s a church, business or residential.
