A 42-year-old Onion Lake woman is facing drug trafficking charges after an early morning traffic stop by Onion Lake RCMP.
Officers were conducting proactive patrols around 2:10 a.m. on March 28 when they pulled over a vehicle in the detachment area.
Police say a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of alcohol, drug paraphernalia and unstamped tobacco.
During a search of one of the passengers, officers located and seized:
- approximately 15 grams of methamphetamine
- approximately 15 grams of cocaine
- approximately 10 grams of cannabis
- cash and a cellphone
- additional items consistent with drug trafficking
Three occupants of the vehicle were arrested at the scene.
As a result of the investigation, Chantelle Cannepotato, 42, of Onion Lake, has been charged with:
- two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking under Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Cannepotato is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on May 20, 2026.
The driver and the other passenger were released without charges. The investigation is ongoing.
