Two children injured in ATV collision north of Marshall

Two was injured July 9 when they were struck by an ATV at a rural residence north of Marshall, and it took more than 40 minutes for an ambulance to reach the scene.

Maidstone RCMP responded to the collision at about 7:55 p.m. on July 9. Both the driver and the pedestrian were under the age of 16.

Legacy Regional firefighters were the first emergency responders on scene. An ambulance did not arrive until shortly after 8:40 p.m., more than 40 minutes later.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital. Injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The driver of the ATV was assessed at the scene. Those injuries are also believed to be non-life-threatening.

RCMP did not release further details about the circumstances of the collision, citing the ages of those involved.

The response time adds to a pattern of ambulance delays across the region that Border Pulse has been tracking in recent months.
