A 24-year-old man from Onion Lake Cree Nation is facing a new charge after fleeing from RCMP on foot during a proactive patrol stop.
Onion Lake RCMP located the man while on regular patrol in Onion Lake on Aug. 13 at about 4:15 p.m. Officers determined he had outstanding warrants.
When officers approached him, he ran into a nearby treed area.
A short time later, officers located and arrested him at a nearby residence.
Jason Fryingpan is charged with:
- Resist/obstruct public officer, Section 129(a), Criminal Code
Fryingpan was also arrested on outstanding warrants from Onion Lake detachment, including fail to comply and resist/obstruct peace officer.
He appeared in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Aug. 17.
The charges have not been tested in court. Fryingpan is presumed innocent unless and until convicted.
RCMP say proactive patrols like this one remain a routine part of policing in the Onion Lake area.
