RCMP‘s Major Crimes Unit and the chief coroner are en route to a shooting scene in Lloydminster.
Emergency services responded to the front of a commercial building near 47 Street and 50 Avenue at approximately 11:30 a.m. Monday.
Reports of shots fired triggered an intensive search, including the deployment of police service dog Rad.
BorderPulse observed EMS on scene working to save the life of the individual, unfortnately the person believed to have been targeted did not survive. RCMP has not officially confirmed the death, released the victim’s identity, or classified the incident as a homicide.
RCMP’s “K” Division Major Crimes Unit, based in Edmonton, and the coroner are travelling to Lloydminster to take over the investigation.
The area remains heavily taped off. Police are asking the public to avoid it unless necessary.
