Emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle rollover early this morning on Highway 16 east of Lloydminster.
According to Legacy Regional Protective Services, the crash happened at approximately 4:05 a.m. on March 5, about 10 kilometers east of the city.
Firefighters arrived to find a vehicle rolled over, with one person trapped inside.
Crews worked to extricate the individual from the vehicle before paramedics transported them to hospital. The person’s condition has not been released.
RCMP attended the scene and are investigating the cause of the collision.
Traffic along Highway 16 was significantly slowed while emergency crews worked to extricate the victim from the rollover.
Legacy Regional Protective Services Chief Dean Peters said the response highlights the dedication of volunteer firefighters and emergency personnel.
“This is exactly what we train for. Our members put in countless hours preparing for situations like this so that when the call comes in, they are ready to help,” said Peters.
“We are incredibly thankful for the volunteers who answer the call, the families who support them, and the dispatchers and partner agencies who work together to make these responses possible.”
There is no word on cause of the rollover, the collision remains under investigation.
